DALE 40 superstructure “Splash Moulding” on transport ready to go to Cooney Marine for production of external stainless steel rails and fittings

Another Further Investment in tooling for total quality of finish – the stainless steel rails, mast and exterior items are manufactured using our 3D CAD drawings on a 3D bending / forming machine to obtain precision curves and dimensions and then offered up to a replicated former, “The Splash Moulding” of the DALE 40 superstructure – the end result is a perfectly curved and formed item – even the stanchion feet bases are individually machined to suit the angles of the decks. Then to add to the DALE finish – all welds ground and polished out to a mirror finish

We are pleased to announce details of a second cabin option for our DALE 28.

The overwhelming comment from visitors at the Southampton show was how spacious the boat is for a 28ft model, particularly the full standing headroom in all areas including the forward cabin and toilet.

Also there were several requests for an additional cabin, so our first priority after the show was to get to the drawing board!


 Working in conjunction with the boat’s designer, Arthur Mursell of TT Boat Designs, we’re delighted to say that we can now announce a second cabin option for the 28 when a wheelhouse galley is specified.


The main features (see also General Arrangement below):-

  • The cabin will be accessed from the aft end of the forward cabin on the starboard side.
  • A standing headroom area in the second cabin achieved by extending the GRP moulding at the wheelhouse pilot position.
  • Maintaining the pilot seat position.
  • Height and space at the head of the berths by utilising space from the lower part of the galley.
  • An infill can be used to convert the triangular section at the head of the forward berth.
  • Stowage outboard and a hanging locker at the forward end of the second cabin.
  • The cabin will be much the same as the second cabin on the larger DALE 34 (shown in the photo below).


The DALE 28 that was at Southampton is now in Neyland and available for sea trial – the only way to truly appreciate the exceptional abilities of our hulls.

DALE 40 Aft Cabin Superstructure Mould – 3D designed and modelled by TT Boat Designs (The Nelson Designers).

Precision machined using a 5 axis milling machine and hand finished and polished to mirror perfection “one of the best and most detailed models we have ever worked from”.

The superstructure forward of the exterior screen on the Aft Cabin version is common to both the Aft Cabin and Aft Cockpit versions.

Designed with all items moulded as an integral, one piece, quality finish, moulding.

Final inspection of DALE 40 aft cabin superstructure mould prior to commencing moulding of the first superstructure moulding.  The mould is all waxed up with plants fitted and ready to apply the gelcoat.

The DALE 40 hull arrived safely on site



The first of the new ‘Dale 40’ hull’s being released from the mould and now ready for fitting out. It’s amazing to see the physical size of it after months on the drawing board. The first boat will be the aft cabin version with a cockpit version also available.

The final primers have been applied to the hull plug of the all New Dale 40.

It will now be sanded and then polished upto a mirror finish ready for taking the mould off

DALE 40 – The legend reborn


At DALE Motor Yachts, the DALE Nelson 38 will always be very special – not only is it extremely accomplished, it was the boat that established us as builders of finely crafted motor yachts, “peerless build quality” was how the boating press put it, and earned us the reputation of “Kings of boats that laugh in the face of rough seas” – again the words of a magazine editor.

The standards established for 38 then lead us into building the “achingly beautiful” DALE Classic 45, a new design from the Nelson designer, Arthur Mursell of TT Boat Designs, that was developed to offer even greater levels of performance and sea keeping.

With every boat featuring a bespoke hand crafted interior, the 45 was an immediate hit with journalists and owners.

And now, perhaps our most exciting boat to date is leaving the drawing board to enter production in readiness for launch early in 2019…

….the DALE 40 takes the Nelson 38 to the next level with the best attributes of the 38 and 45, further enhancing them for sea keeping that improves on levels that already astonish even the most experienced OF helmsman, and improved accommodation space that improves on the already supremely comfortable Nelson 38.

The forward underwater profile of the hull follows the 38 to offer the best upwind ride, whilst the aft sections borrow from the 45’s greater deadrise for improved handling in following seas.

The latest CNC techniques are being used to build the plug which means the DALE 40 hull will be built to THE highest accuracy and level of finish

In addition, the design features…

  • a contemporary interpretation of the timeless Nelson lines – a design that we have spent months honing until every detail from every angle is pleasing to the eye
  • more pronounced bow flare for a drier ride
  • flared topsides with increased freeboard for greater internal hull space
  • a raised sole that lifts the hull accommodation into the wider space created by the flared topsides

This increase in accommodation volume has given us…

  • comfortable 6’4” headroom
  • a forward cabin with ensuite heads/shower and the option for double or V berth
  • separate forward heads/shower
  • lower galley to the same spacious dimensions as the 45 galley
  • a mid cabin OPTION for the cockpit version
  • a spacious wheelhouse – positioned further forward than the 38 to offer the same interior volume as the 45 wheelhouse
  • option for aft cockpit or spacious aft double cabin with ensuite heads and exterior helm and cockpit above the aft cabin
  • even more generous side decks
  • It goes without saying that the levels of personalisation for each owner will be everything you expect of a DALE build, whilst the standards of fit, finish, installation and attention to detail will continue to match the standards of the world’s finest motor yachts.

DALE 28 – Sea Trials


First launch

On Saturday we had our maiden launch of the new Dale 28.  The weather provided an ideal challenge for our first outing with a blustery force 5-6 Westerly with wind against tide in the haven whipping up a nice awkward short chop which was later followed by a two meter swell at the haven approaches to give a variety of conditions to test her out.  As expected, the TT Boat Designs hull didn’t disappoint. We’ll shortly send out an update with more information, some interior shots and will be updating our website but thought we’d send out a brief update.  Please get in touch if you have any questions

DALE 28 – Latest design renderings













There is space to comfortably seat five people in the wheelhouse (the helm seat unit folds forward to create an additional seat as can be seen below) and three in the cockpit.  With the optional fully opening aft wheelhouse glass doors, it is possible to use the wheelhouse and the cockpit as one large entertaining space.  There will also be the option to have a sunroof fitted over the wheelhouse




















Update on the build
The smooth running high power Mercury Diesel 3.0L V6 engines are on site awaiting completion of the mouldings.  Having previously used this model of engine in our Dale 23, we are expecting great performance in our single shaft drive installation.  We are able to fit single engines up to 370 HP

The hardwood timber and veneered plywood are on site and we have begun hand crafting the joinery ready to fit when we receive the mouldings
